ABOUT THE COMPANY

Opera Carnivalé is the brainchild of Dr Narelle Yeo and Rachel Bate, a joint project supported by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music.

This unique collaboration aims to produce professional quality opera and music theatre, fostering and mentoring young artists from the Illawarra region and creating the professional artists of tomorrow. Intensive rehearsals bring together professionals and young artists from both regions in singing, acting and dance.

Masterclasses giving students industry insights are also offered as part of the intensive program. Opera Carnivalé is not opera-as-usual, with performers pushing the bounds of opera convention and audience members playing a part in the story.
